Are you searching for a simple Linux Backup software, choosing Back In Time which is done by taking snapshots of a specified set of directories.
Back In Time inspired from "flyback project" and "TimeVault". It can run on Gnome and KDE 4 (>= 4.1).
After installing Back In Time in Ubuntu Desktop, you can run it with normal user privileges:
Applications --> System Tools --> Back In Time
For the first time, you should config its Settings, such as backups directory.
