disable the Driver Software Installation in windows 7
I have installed an Audigy 2 ZS card in windows 7. But every time I boot the computer, the "Driver Software Installation" dialog appears and says that the card is ready to use. I have disabled Windows Update, the devices etc, but it start at the next boot, and Windows kept wanting to install it.
I had the same problem with a Hauppage TV tuner. Here's how to disable the Driver Software Installation in windows 7:
1) UNINSTALL the device driver
click control panel --> device manager etc.
2) Choose to delete software and ignore any restart messages.
3) UNPLUG / DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET.
4) Install yourr driver Audigy.
5) STILL DISCONNECTED FROM THE INTERNET re-boot.
6) check if your device is working.
7) now re-connect to the Internet.

delete the Windows.old folder in vista
My computer had install Windows Vista Ultimate one year ago and worked fine. When I want to regain that disk space, i find that the Windows.old files can not be deleted.
How can I do that?
You can use the Disk Cleanup Tool to delete the Windows.old folder safely.

Local area connection lost
Two computers network use Ethernet switch. One computer connected to Internet via Actiontec DSL modem. No problem with WinXP but other computer using Vista x64 OS always loses "Local Area Connection". Easy solve as I since computer diagnoses and states you have no LAN and I reset. But should not have to constantly reset the LAN. Turned off firewall and still happens.
Here is how To fix this problem on Vista:
1) Click start --> Control Panel --> Network and Sharing Center
2) In the left-hand panel, choose Manage Network Connections
3) In the dialog box which appears, choose "Local Area Connections" (or whatever your connection is which handles both local LAN traffic and Internet), right-click then Properties.
4). Click Continue if you get a UAC warning, then uncheck the box beside Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6). Then OK.
It should resume the connection from Standby now.

I'm experimenting a little with netcat - I want to test a bit of ip spoofing.
Because I need to bind the spoofed IP to my interface, using the ifconfig command, I try to run netcat command in linux at one terminal:

I open another terminal to run as follow:

But i get " nc: bind failed: Cannot assign requested address " message. How i can bind to spoof an ip address.

copy packet to another network card in linux

I already wrote a TARGET module for iptables to change IP destination.

I split a video stream into 2 path(load sharing), 1st path end at wlan0, 2nd end at wlan1, wlan0 and wlan1 are in the same PC. But I can't combine these 2 stream together, because the video looks not smooth.

Laptop cannot access 500 GB external drive
I have a laptop running windows vista. But when I make a 500 GB external drive USB-connected to the laptop, the laptop can not access. I got the error message
"F is available but the user account you logged on with was denied access."
Diagnostics message says: "Make sure you have typed the path correctly and you have permission to access the shared folder."
I don't have the required permissions or privileges from the laptop.
There is how I fix it.
1. Right-click Computer > Manage > Storage > Disk Management then right-click the drive graphic > Properties > Sharing Tab > Advanced Sharing > tick Share this folder and type in a Share Name > Apply > OK.
2. THen go to the Security Tab > Edit > Add then type ‘Everyone’ (not the quotes) > Check Names > OK and below it select your preferences, e.g. Full Control, etc. > Apply > Reply Yes to any security message > Keep pressing OK to any ‘deny’ messages > OK, etc. to finish.

My laptop run windows vista for a long time. But after I stopped some services and startup programs in msconfig, in the Appearance setting dialog I can not find the Windows Aero color scheme.

My laptop had installed Debian linux 4.0 with wireless card. I checked the /sbin directory, but can not find the iwconfig file. I need to use iwconfig command.

Fix Sound Audio Stutter in vista
I had inserted a 1GB SD card in my Lenovo laptop, then the audio was skipping and stuttering in windows vista. I tried some suggestions such as Disable all Sound Special Effects, Disabled undervolting (RMClock) and update VLC player, Media Player Classic.
Ultimately I found what cause it? Probably I had enabled ReadyBoost on this card.
How to resolve the sound problem:
Right-click on the SD card in Windows Explorer in vista. Choose Properties and disabled ReadyBoost in the ReadyBoost tab.
